Cellular diagnostics today face significant challenges, including dependence on expert operators, high costs, and complex workflows. As a result, such platforms remain inaccessible in many parts of the world, where their operational complexity limits widespread adoption. CELLnROLL, a spin-off from the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, is tackling these barriers with a new generation of microrobotics- and biotechnology-driven diagnostic platforms. This pioneering approach has earned support from leading innovation programs, including the EXIST-Forschungstransfer initiative of the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Aeronautics, and earlier, the Cyber Valley Innovation Fellowship of the Carl Zeiss Foundation.
