Postdoctoral Opportunities

We welcome expressions of interest from outstanding postdoctoral researchers who would like to join the Biomimetic Materials and Machines Group at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.

We will open a new postdoc-position in summer 2026, with a tentative start in October 2026. A call will be published in advance.

In addition, we actively support strong candidates in preparing applications for competitive national and international fellowships (MSCA fellowship, Humboldt fellowship, Benjamin-Walter fellowship).

Researchers with a background in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, robotics, or closely related fields are encouraged to get in touch.

Doctoral Thesis Opportunities

At the moment, there are no open doctoral (PhD) positions available in the group. Future openings will be announced on this website and through the official institute channels. Interested candidates are welcome to check back periodically for updates.

ERASMUS+ Master Thesis Opportunities

I am offering Master thesis opportunities for students who would like to complete their thesis abroad through the ERASMUS+ program. As part of the Biomimetic Materials and Machines Group at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, students work on cutting-edge research in soft robotics, functional materials, sustainable systems, and untethered autonomous machines within an international research environment.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must:

  • Be enrolled at a university within the EU or an associated country, and

  • Be eligible for ERASMUS+ mobility funding through your home institution.

For further details on available projects and the application process, please contact us.
