Machine Learning for climate research

Tübingen/Jena, 22. Juni 2015. Effects of large-scale extreme weather events on the terrestrial carbon cycle - Jakob Zscheischler delivered outstanding scientific research in his 2014 finished dissertation. During his doctorate he was affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (Department Empirical Inference) and the MPI for Biogeochemistry in Jena. The Otto Hahn Medal was awarded to him during the annual meeting of the Max Planck Society in Berlin, June 17-18, 2015. This award aims at motivating young people to stay in science; plus the winners receive 7.500 Euros. Today, Jakob works as Post-Doc at the ETH Zurich, Institute for Atmospheric and Climatic Science.
