Ferromagnet / High Temperature Superconductor Systems

For the understanding of the current transport in polycrystalline high-Tc superconductors as technological relevant materials, the determination and understanding of magnetic flux and current density distributions is of vital importance. We visualize the local critical current density in superconductors with higher spatial resolution in the scanning x-rax microscope MAXYMUS at low temperatures.

Thermomagnetic instabilities like flux avalanches can be visualized via magneto-optical imaging. For the magnetic x-ray microscopy of imaging the current density in superconductors the interaction within superconductor-ferromagnet heterostructures is investigated. The superconductors are grown on single cristalline STO substrates, films on nanopatterned substrates show altered critical current densities.
