Wei Feng receives Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

Stuttgart – Dr. Wei Feng has been working on the design and fabrication of responsive polymeric systems including hydrogels and liquid crystalline polymers since his Master's study, developing responsive molecules into functional devices. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. His doctoral research, forming part of the ERC Advanced Grant “VIBRATE” lead by his doctoral supervisor prof. Dirk Broer, focused on the research topic of developing electro/light-responsive liquid crystalline polymers and derivative functional devices. On June 1, 2021, Wei Feng joined the Physical Intelligence Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS) in Stuttgart with the support of a two-year Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers.

I believe the potential of microrobots for biomedical and other applications is huge. There is large space for us including material scientists and mechanical scientists to play and push clinical microrobots forward into reality. “  Sitti heads the Physical Intelligence Department, which he founded in 2014 at the Stuttgart site of the MPI-IS.

Each year, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants approximately 500 fellowships to postdoctoral researchers of all nationalities and disciplines from abroad. They must have above average qualifications, be at the beginning of their academic career and have only completed their doctorate in the past four years. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers allows the awardee to carry out long-term research of six months to two years in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their academic host.
