Corrado De Pascali
Robotic Materials Neuromechanics of Movement Postdoctoral Researcher
I earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University "La Sapienza" (Rome) with a focus in Mechanical design. I obtained my Ph.D. in Biorobotics from the Superior School Sant'Anna (Pisa) with a scholarship funded by the Italian Institute of Technology (Genoa). My Ph.D. project, entitled "Design of soft robotic manipulators inspired by the elephant trunk", aimed to realize a robotic manipulator able to replicate the articulated deformations achieved by the elephant trunk by mimicking its complex muscular architecture. In this framework, I have developed a class of pneumatic artificial muscles, named GRACE, which are suitable for direct fabrication in biomimetic arrangements through additive manufacturing.
