News 02-01-2019 Jan Peters elected IEEE Fellow Prof. Dr. Jan Peters, Head of the Robot Learning Group at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and Professor for Intelligent Autonomous Systems at the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt, was appointed IEEE Fellow. He is honored for his important contributions to machine learning for robots to acquire motor skills. This work is of outstanding importance for current developments in artificial intelligence in two areas, autonomous robotics and machine learning, in particular reinforcement learning. They have the potential to make more intelligent robots more useful in our everyday lives in the future. Jan Peters

Micro, Nano, and Molecular Systems News 02-11-2018 Nanorobots propel through the eye Scientists developed specially coated nanometer-sized vehicles that can be actively moved through dense tissue like the vitreous of the eye. So far, the transport of nano-vehicles has only been demonstrated in model systems or biological fluids, but not in real tissue. The work was published in the journal Science Advances and constitutes one step further towards nanorobots becoming minimally-invasive tools for precisely delivering medicine to where it is needed.
