Physical human-robot interaction (pHRI) ranges from teleoperation scenarios where the robot is purely a remote tool executing the operator’s actions, to collaborative scenarios that involve close physical proximity and social norms. As a Research Scientist in the Haptic Intelligence Department at MPI-IS, Dr. Valerio Ortenzi will contribute to research projects across this range, investigating robot hardware, sensors, signal processing techniques, control algorithms, AI algorithms, and robot behaviors that can increase the fluency, efficiency, and safety of pHRI.
